Pulwama, May 21 Pulwama Police continue their sustained drive against drug trafficking with two major operations carried out at different locations, resulting in the seizure of contraband substances, cash, and the arrest of three individuals involved in drug peddling. Police spokesman told in a statement that in the first incident, a police party from Police Station Rajpora, during naka checking at Achgoza, intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK05H/0877, which was coming from Achgoza towards Abhama. During a thorough search of the vehicle, approximately 5.7 kilograms of poppy straw and cash amounting to ₹14,200 was recovered. The driver was identified as Zahoor Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar, and the co-passenger as Rayees Ahmad Gooru, son of Bashir Ahmad Gooru — both residents of Gath Takun, Awantipora. In this regard, FIR No. 45/2025 under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigation has been initiated.In another operation, a police party from the same police station, while on patrol duty at Putrigam, stopped an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK13A 8461, driven by Amir Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Samad Wani, resident of Dadora, Pulwama. Upon search, approximately 10.65 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 46/2025 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway.Pulwama Police remain resolute in their mission to eliminate the drug menace from society and appeal to the general public to support law enforcement efforts by sharing timely and credible information regarding drug-related activities.
